Crowds gathered to watch more than 40 young women walk down a fashion model runway, all with the hope to move one step closer to their lifetime dream.

"America's Next Top Mode" hosted an open casting call at the South Plains Mall on Saturday.

Local TV markets submit a proposal to host a casting call in their city, said Branden Waits, promotions director for the Lubbock CW and the coordinator of the event.

A recent study conducted by a non-profit environmental watchdog organization, Environmental Working Group, found four out of five name-brand sunscreens either do not protect as advertised or contain harmful ingredients.

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Barbie and Bratz dolls are sisters, a jury has decided in a major victory to Mattel Inc., the world's largest toymaker, in its copyright infringement lawsuit against rival MGA Entertainment Inc.

The federal jury decided Thursday that the designer of MGA's Bratz characters conceived the idea for the dolls while working for Mattel - a ruling that could mean millions of dollars for the Barbie maker when the jury considers possible damages during a separate proceeding.

The Hub City is hosting the 80th annual Texas Future Farmers of America Convention, which started Tuesday and ends today at the United Spirit Arena.

More than 10,000 high school students from across the state came to Lubbock for this year's convention.

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Nothing dark about Batman's first night at the box office.

"The Dark Knight" lit up cash registers during its midnight debut, stealing away with a record $18.5 million from 3,040 theaters, distributor Warner Bros. said Friday.

That bested the 2005 performance of "Star Wars Episode III: The Revenge of the Sith," which took in $16.
