Damian Giglio is a singer and a songwriter who grew up in Beaumont and now lives in Dallas as a musician. His songs truly come from his heart and you can tell when listening to them. It's one of the reasons his songs relate to so many people.

Music has been Giglio's passion since he was in the sixth grade.

"I was into sports, and my parents thought I'd never sit still long enough to practice music," he said. "I shocked them when I practiced three hours a day religiously."

For Giglio, the most exciting part of being a musician is playing live because of "all the energy and seeing the songs come to life."

With all the musicians out there trying to find their big break, it is hard to differentiate one artist from another. Giglio said his songs come from a real place and that he gets his inspirations from real life.

"I think that it is very lyric-based," he said. "There is a definite story inside each song. I write only from experiences that happened to me, so the music is very relatable."

Giglio hopes to help someone through a tough situation with his music by letting them know that they are not the only one going through a tough time.

In five years, he hopes to be "on tour, rockin the world," he said. "I have never been on tour, so I'm ready to experience that. I can't do it alone, and I am so thankful to all of those that help me take a step closer."

One night after recently licensing his songs, Giglio and his wife were watching an episode of The Hills on MTV, and he heard his song, "The One," playing. His reaction was much like anyone else's would be.

"I leaped off the couch and said, 'Holy crap, that's my song!'" Giglio said. "I had no advance warning that it was airing that night.

"I totally appreciate it when someone spends their $10 to pick up the album, because a lot of hard work went into it.

"I spent two years writing, editing, rewriting and demo-ing in my bedroom on a four-track recorder. Then we started the recording process. We had to find and pay the musicians, a producer, and someone to do artwork.

"Plus, we had to pay for studio time, the duplication process, the CD release night and T-shirts. Then you realize you have spent $10,000."
